Movie Picks: Animated

I 100% believe that animated films are not only for kids. There is something amazing about the limitless possibilities for visuals that come along with the animated film genre. The overall creativity and imagination that goes into creating an animated film is something that cannot be overlooked. All of the details that are included by the creative teams behind these films really elevate the stories being told. Here is a short list of some of my go to animated movies:

How To Train Your Dragon (2010-2019)

I absolutely adore this entire trilogy. The story develops and the characters evolve in a pretty perfect way across the series in my opinion. There animation and visuals in the film are so effective in transporting the viewer right into the world of the characters. I cannot say enough good things about this trilogy.

Rise of the Guardians (2012)

This movie is funny, whimsical, endearing and overall magical. The team up of the icons that are so apparent in childhood (Santa, Easter Bunny, etc.) all working together to preserve the wonder and innocence that is so easily lost while growing up is a really interesting plot that I believe is really well executed.

Moana (2016)

The combination of great music, amazing characters, and a strong story really make this movie stand out to me. I think the message of finding who you are and going through self discovery is so important and I think it was wonderfully relayed to the audience.

Tangled (2010)

The big personalities embodied by the characters in this film are one of the things I love the most whenever I watch it. Experiencing the development of the different relationships throughout the narrative really grabs the viewers attention. Not to mention the fun and catchy music that is featured.

Coco (2017)

This film is packed with explosive color, beautiful animation and has an endless amount of heart driving the story. The dedication given to this film to represent a minority culture in such a celebratory and respectful way is something I think we definitely need to see continue as the film industry moves forward.
